Burglary suspect headed back to prison

November 1, 2010

The prime suspect in last week’s burglary on Harris Road is headed back to prison for violating terms of his post-release supervision for a prior felony conviction.
During a Circuit Court hearing on Monday, Lannie Lee Stallings, 42, of 2554 Harris Road, was sentenced to 5 years in prison after violating his post-release supervision for a prior burglary conviction.
Stallings had been ordered held in the Oktibbeha County Jail by the Mississippi Department of Corrections following his arrest this past Thursday on a burglary charge.
The burglary charge stemmed from the reported theft of a jewelry box from 2546 Harris Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. last Thursday, sheriff’s deputies said last week. Stallings was quickly developed as a suspect in the incident, deputies said.
After taking the initial report, deputies began searching for Stallings, only to be called back to the home where the burglary occurred for a reported domestic disturbance less than an hour later.
The disturbance also involved Stallings, deputies said.
As deputies confronted Stallings, he fled into a nearby wooded area, prompting deputies and Oktibbeha County volunteer firefighters to search for him for more than an hour.
After deputies located him, Harris was examined by OCH Regional Medical Center paramedics at the scene since he had been injured prior to fleeing into the woods.
The injuries were not inflicted by deputies, officials said. Some earrings stolen in the initial burglary have been recovered.
