WEST POINT â€” Carsie Clark Young Sr., age 77, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Carsie Clark Young was born Sept. 19, 1932 in West Point, Mississippi to the late Mary Elizabeth Clark and James William Young Sr.
Mr. Young was President of Clark Vending Company, Inc. and served as a director and secretary of both C. C. Clark, Inc. and Clark Distributing Company, Inc.
He graduated from Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College), where he played college baseball. He was an Elder and lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, USA and was a Veteran of U. S. Army.
He was a member of the West Point Rotary Club where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Clark had served as a National Trustee and a longtime volunteer with Ducks Unlimited.
He was a volunteer and supporter of Delta Water Fowl. Mr. Young was a lifelong conservationist, avid duck, small game hunter and a fisherman. In his lifetime, Clark was an active forestry and bottomlands manager.
Others knew him for his quiet kindness and generosity; he was a man of his word and lived life with integrity, and a great sense of fun. Carsie Clark Young Sr. married Diane Worthington Young on Aug. 17, 1957, in Cleveland. She preceded him in death Aug. 5, 2008.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rita Cochrane officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home, 1400 East Main St. in West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth â€śBetsyâ€ť Young Lott (David) of West Point, and Caroline Young Parker (Gary) of Cedar Bluff; one son, Carsie Clark Young, Jr. (Lesa) of Aberdeen; Clark delighted in his three grandchildren Jessica Wilson Lott, Robert Clark Lott, and George Worthington Lott; one brother, James William â€śBillâ€ť Young (Sarah) of Tupelo; nieces and nephews, Rachel Elizabeth Young, Dr. Wade Anderson Young, and Leslee Paulk Lampert; three step-grandchildren, John Callon, Ben Chase Callon and William Callon. One sister Erin Faye Young Paulk predeceased him. Pallbearers will be Robert Lott, George Lott, Cameron Clark, Albert Clark, Dal Clark, Jr. Harold Clark, Rick Kaminski and Henry Shelton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gailon Young, Jim Donahou, Fox Haas, Whit Lenoir, Ralph Bradley, Sonny Jameson, Danny Rainey, Buddy Griggs, Dr. Tom Hutchens, and Lance Doerr. The family gives special thanks to his loving-devoted caregivers, Betty Ervin, Georgia Robinson, Gloria Moore, Minnie Rose Shelton and Sonya Shelton, Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr. and staff, North MS Medical Center-West Point staff.
