Developers of the recently renovated milk plant are asking permission from Starkville to expand the facilityâ€™s parking and rezone the property.
The Creamery at Central Station LLC, located on 200 S. Montgomery Street and developed by Tabor Construction, has acquired more land to provide 50 additional parking spaces for the businesses that have been established there during the last 18 months.
The Central Station building is the former Eagle Family Foods production plant.
Jeremy Tabor, president of Tabor Construction, also plans to add a two-way drive aisle for easy access to future businesses.
The Starkville Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended his plans for approval by the Board of Aldermen, along with rezoning the 2.2-acre site from a planned unit development (PUD) to a general business district (C-2).
â€śIâ€™m really glad to see you do this,â€ť said Dora Herring, who serves on the commission.
Jason Walker, also a member, said the renovations made at Central Station will contribute to the prosperity of downtown Starkville.
Central Station currently houses climate controlled storage units, the Central Station Grill, Boardtown Bikes and Something Southern, an interior decorating firm.
According to reports from the city Building, Codes and Planning Department, Tabor is still evaluating plans for the second floor.
