Company to unveil major investor

October 20, 2010

A power semiconductor company will make a substantial investment in SemiSouth, a business launched in Starkville, where officials will formally announce the deal Friday.
The CEO of the investing company will be on hand for the invitation-only announcement, as will Gov. Haley Barbour, U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper, R-Third District, MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum and SemiSouth CEO Kenney R. Roberts, said Jeffrey B. Casady, Ph.D., CTO and vice president of business development for SemiSouth.
When asked what the potential impact on SemiSouth and Starkville will be, Casady said SemiSouth currently has 70 jobs and is expanding to more than 100 within the next six months.
“These jobs are high-tech manufacturing and development positions with attractive salaries,” Casady said.
“This expansion will allow SemiSouth to expand its global presence in providing advanced, world-record energy-efficient silicon carbide power electronics which ... are used to enable more efficient systems in solar, wind, electric vehicle, telecom power supply and other similar markets.”
