Visitation for Doris Dee Morgan will be today at 2 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. at the Morgan Chapel Baptist Church.
Miss Morgan, 87, of Sturgis, passed away at the Henry House in Sturgis on Monday, October 18, 2010. She was born in Sturgis on August 13, 1923.Â
She received a degree in education from Mississippi State University in 1963.Â After graduating, she taught fifth grade at Sturgis High School until she retired in 1988.Â
She served on the Oktibbeha County School Board from 1992 to 2000.Â Miss Morgan was a lifetime member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church where she served as church clerk.Â She also was an active member of the WMU. She was passionate about missions.
Miss Morgan was preceded in death by her parents, Evna and Jennie Mae Morgan; brother, James T. Morgan and sister, Evelyn Lewis.Â She is survived by a brother, Bill (Barbara) Morgan of Suisun, Calif.; sisters, Frances Gillis and Ann (Terrell) Morgan of Sturgis; sister-in-law, Annie Mae Morgan of Sturgis; 13 nieces, nine nephews and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Morgan Scribner, Charles Morgan, John Lewis, Bud Gillis, Kenny Wilson and William Gillis.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.Â
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Margaret Lackey State Mission Offering, Morgan Chapel Baptist Church or Sturgis Baptist Church, P. O. Box 6, Sturgis, MS 39769.
