East Oktibbeha drops decision on the road

October 28, 2010

NANIH WAIYA – Riding in on a three-game winning streak, East Oktibbeha couldn't keep its momentum going Thursday night, falling to Nanih Waiya on the road 47-6.
The Titans (3-7, 3-5 in Region 3-1A) fell behind 7-0 after one quarter and took a 19-6 deficit into the locker room at halftime.
East Oktibbeha's first-half points came on Chris Hunter's 41-yard touchdown pass to Juwan Roberts.
Already trailing by 13 points beginning the second half, the Titans couldn't keep up with the Warriors in the second half.
Nanih Waiya (8-2, 8-0 in Region 3-1A) outscored East Oktibbeha 28-0 in the second half, tallying 22 points in the third quarter and six more in the fourth.
In doing so, the Warriors moved a step closer to clinching the Class A, Region 3,
title, a distinction they could earn as soon as tonight if West Oktibbeha defeats second place South Leake.
In Thursday's game, Hunter led the Titans offense, passing for 155 yards and the lone touchdown.
Terence Rice finished with 56 receiving yards on a pair of catches.
The East Oktibbeha rushing attack was led by Lexie Edwards, who gained 47 yards on four carries.
Tinnie Peterson led the Titans defense with 15 tackles and a sack.
Monte Horsley also reached double-figures in tackles with 11.
Tevin Poe hauled in an interception.
East Oktibbeha's six points scored is the team's lowest offensive output this season. The previous low came in the season's opening week, a 20-8 loss to Montgomery County.
The 47 points allowed by the Titans is also the most given up this season, surpassing French Camp's 36 point output on Sept. 17.
The Titans will look to rebound next week when they host Ethel to wrap up the 2010 season.
