Fashion for the Junction

September 21, 2010

It’s that time of year again! Football season has hit Starkville and the Junction, creating an atmosphere of pride, fellowship, and the traditional sound of cowbells for Bulldog fans.
Along with the excitement of Saturdays spent cheering on our football team in Davis Wade Stadium comes the frenzy of deciding what to wear.
Though collegiate attire emblazoned with our beloved bulldog and the M-State logo exudes school spirit and utter devotion to MSU athletic teams, these outfits are not the most stylish choices to wear to the Junction on game day.
There are many ways for fans to express their support and pride for the Bulldogs while also maintaining fashion sense.
Transforming this season’s hottest trends into MSU game day attire is actually quite simple because there are so many different options.
Since most of the upcoming game days will typically be warm and sunny, airy dresses and skirts paired with comfortable sandals or flats are always great choices for remaining cool.
For those fashionistas who are brave enough to wear heels, wedges are definitely the most suitable for game day.
When the cold weather unexpectedly strikes during the middle of the season, bring out those maroon scarves, cardigans, cable-knit sweaters, and cozy pea-coats.
These could all be paired nicely with dark denim jeans and tan leather boots, which are once again a fall staple for every wardrobe this season.
Of course, everyone should wear maroon and white, but slate grays and black can also be incorporated into the MSU game day wardrobe via skirts, slacks, jeans and shoes.
There are many variations of maroon that are acceptable. Be wary of shades too far into the purple or crimson families, so as not to be confused with those rival tiger or tide fans from our neighboring states.
In support of the True Maroon campaign, most of the clothing stores here in Starkville have ordered the most fashionable maroon clothing for this fall. Some of the boutiques revealed their fall tailgating and game day attire at the Main Street Block Party fashion show, held as a kickoff to the 2010 football season.
Also, chain stores, including Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, and Gap, carry many tops and dresses in the maroon and gray families. All of these shops can come to the rescue for any game day outfit needs.
With so many trendy style and color options, deciding on the perfect outfit for MSU game day should be completely stress-free for all fashionistas. So pull on the maroon and white!
Remember that you are a part of the spirit created on game day when you proudly show your colors.
The next step is to add your personal enthusiasm to the scene to make the Bulldogs the victors.
Your plan for game day? Look good! Yell loud! Ring them bells!
