The speaker for Saturdayâs monthly meeting of the Starkville Tea Party will educate the audience about daily life under extreme socialism.
Dr. Tomasz Haupt, originally from Poland, will share his remarks on the extreme socialism of Poland and âthe suppression of civil liberties in the name of âsocial justiceâ while the economy was being collapsedâ as part of Saturdayâs regular meeting of the Starkville Tea Party. The meeting will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Dr. Haupt, who was born and reared in Poland, graduated from Jagiellonian University, where he received his doctoral degree in Physics from the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Krakow (Poland). As a research associate in Krakow, Nijmegen, N.L., and Syracuse, N.Y., he performed âexperimental high energy physics, developing software and analyzing data from hadron-hadron collisions at CERN (Geneva, C.H.) and e+e- annihilations at CESR (Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.).â
In 1992, he converted to computer science, focusing on high-performance computing. And in 2000, he moved to the Deep South.
His current research interests include âthe development of new technologies to unleash the power of grid computing, cloud computing, and Web 2.0 to enable researchers in a variety of fields to advance the frontiers of science.â He continues his research at the Mississippi State University.
While living in Poland, Dr. Haupt witnessed extreme socialism and the suppression of civil liberties in the name of âsocial justiceâ while the economy was being collapsed. He remembers best âthe arrogance of the authorities and their not listening to the people.â
Haupt will share what he sees to be the same type of arrogance in the current United States administration.Â
âWhile the Soviet-style communism is surely dead, some aspects of it apparently emerge in a transformed and disguised form,â Haupt said. âIt is important to learn to recognize them, and learn from the mistake of others.â
After Dr. Haupt remarks, he will open the meeting for questions and answers.Â
