Sky Lake Construction is developing its second housing subdivision in Starkville and recently broke ground on Academy Road.

Marketing Director Kate Millican said the construction crew began clearing the land a couple of weeks ago, and are now in the process of doing the dirt work.

The new development will add 40 to 50 houses in Starkville, with an array of floor plan options and customization opportunities available for buyers.

"We have a similar subdivision in Starkville called Bent Brook Ridge, right behind Starkville High School," Millican said. "We built there in Starkville, first, and we loved it … So, we thought, let's go ahead and expand in Starkville."

Bent Brook Ridge is almost finished, with a few lots and houses left for sale. All of the plans have been laid out for Academy Hill and the lots are all divided. How long the subdivision will take to build depends on how many pre-sales Sky Lake Construction makes.

"One of our favorite things to do is work with home buyers and find the right lot for them, the right floor plan, and let them choose cabinet color, flooring, paint, and some exterior details," Millican said. "That way, they can have exactly what they want and feel more at home."

Sky Lake Construction has a total of 32 floor plans on its website, several of which will be available at Academy Hill. A ribbon cutting is being planned for the neighborhood potentially for the first week of May.
