WEST POINT - Jim Denton, 71, passed away, Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the OCH Regional Medical Center, in Starkville.
James Darnell Denton, Jr. was born October 25, 1938 in West Point, to the late Edwina Tarleton and James Darnell Denton, Sr.
Mr. Denton was a retired Home Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. Jim Denton married Geraldine May Denton April 13, 1991, in Starkville.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Middleton officiating, assisted by Bro. Jason Green. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Denton of Starkville; three sons, James Duke Denton (Sheryl) of Pontotoc, Lee Denton of Germantown, Tenn., Glen Potts of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Donna Pittman of Brookwood, Ala.; six grandchildren; Stephen Denton, John Luke Denton, Justin Potts, Drew Potts, Chance Pittman and Merissa Pittman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Duke Denton, on September 25, 1990, and an uncle, Cecil Denton.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Jones, Bobby Coleman, Brian Spencer, Denton Hunt, Mike Jones, and David May.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class at Meadowview, and former co-workers at Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

Visitation was Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
