Lady Jackets begin district play with win

COLUMBUS – Starkville High opened up district play in dominating fashion on Tuesday in Columbus.
The Lady Yellowjackets cruised to a straight-sets win over the Lady Falcons 25-16, 25-3, and 25-13.
Wheeler Richardson had 20 assists, 13 points, six aces, and six digs in the winning effort.
Priyanka Parajuli tallied 11 points, along with five aces and four kills.
Also contributing for Starkville (19-7, 1-0) were Margaret Allison with 10 points, four kills, and two aces, and Elizabeth Scott with seven points, five kills, four digs, and three aces.
Other top performers for the Lady Jackets were McKay Richardson, who had five points, four kills, and three aces, and Tiera Tillman with five points, two aces, and two kills.
Starkville plays its first district home game this Thursday when Tupelo visits the Beehive.
Varsity action begins at 6:30 p.m.
