It only took 24 hours for the Starkville Lady Volunteers to shake the disappointment of losing to Magnolia Heights on Monday to getting back on track against Heritage Academy on Tuesday.
The Lady Vols used 12 hits and pitcher Julianne Jackson hurled a one-hitter in a 15-1 victory against the Lady Patriots in three innings.
Starkville Academy coach Jessica Dickens has been proud of what Jackson has been able to give in the circle.
"She started off the season red hot with her pitching," Dickens said. "She has been working on her change-up and it has come a long way. She does a good job of slowing it up and keeping the hitters off balance. She does a good job of using it at the right time."
Jackson, who had four strikeouts in the game, also delivered two doubles and a triple on offense. Bailey Wofford contributed two singles and a triple for the Lady Vols, while Megan Picard and Megan Jones added a pair of singles, and Megan Aucoin and Lauren Ware had one single each.
Starkville Academy scored 1o runs in the first inning and didn't look back.
"It felt good to come out today, after losing a heart-breaking game (Monday), hit as well as we did and get a win," Dickens said.
The Lady Vols (7-7) host Leake Academy at 4 p.m. Thursday, then take on Copiah Academy at the Starkville Sportsplex in their first game of the Exposure Tournament at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
