SDN STAFF REPORT

Retired Mississippi State University English professor Nancy Hargrove will begin a new series of literature discussions at the Starkville Public Library.

Hargrove will lead discussions each Tuesday at 4 p.m. from Aug. 15 to Sep. 12. The discussions will cover the "Cup and Chaucer" series, including a novel, short stories, poetry, and drama. The discussions are open to anyone who has an interest in literature.

"We are pleased that Dr. Hargrove will lead this popular discussion series," Library Director Ginny Holtcamp said.

This series includes the titles:

— "Ellen Foster" by Kaye Gibbons
— "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" by Katherine Anne Porter
— "To Room Nineteen" by Doris Lessing
— "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost
— "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" by Randall Jarrell
— "Marks" by Linda Pastan
— "Stop All the Clocks" by W.H. Auden
— "The Dance" by William Carlos Williams
— "Fences" by August Wilson

Attendees are encouraged to read the literature before attending the meetings. Some are available at the front desk of the library and some at the local bookstore.

"Each work provides compelling insights into the human experience with many possible subjects for discussion," Hargrove said. "Come join us for a look at a variety of striking literary works by outstanding authors.”
