Man wants stolen seahorse back
More than 40 years ago, Jake Mills’ late wife received a gift the Starkville man would like returned to him with no questions asked.
About a week ago, Mills discovered an approximately 60-pound, white concrete seahorse missing out of his front yard in the 600 block of Critz Street.
His late wife – Betty Jo Mills – attended a beauty college in Biloxi where her instructor, an Italian, fashioned for her as a gift.
“It had been in the family 43 years,” he said.
Mrs. Mills passed away last year.
Mills reported the alleged theft of the item to police July 31. He told police the item was stolen sometime between July 29 and the date he filed the report.
He was uncertain of the value of the item and did not know who could have taken it, according to the report.
Two people would have needed to carry the ornament, Mills told police.
If the item is returned to Mills, “no questions (will be) asked,” he said. To provide information on the missing seahorse, call Jake Mills at 324-5776.
