McEwen named the 2010 OCH Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year

September 5, 2010

Gwen McEwen is presented the OCH Regional Medical Center’s Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year plaque by the Auxiliary President Jeannie Godbold.

Mrs. Gene McEwen has been named the OCH Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year for the 2009-2010 year.
Mrs. McEwen has been an Auxiliary Member since 1999 where she has volunteered at the front desk welcoming visitors and patients and helping in directing them to where they need to go. She has also served as the head of the calling committee, gathering Auxiliary members for meetings and functions.
Along with Volunteering at OCH, Mrs. McEwen volunteered at several nursing homes around the city and county. She began in 1999 after her retirement from MSU Veterinary School, visiting friends and found that many people needed someone to visit and talk with so she began going to the nursing home two to three times a week.
Mrs. McEwen worked at MSU Veterinary School from 1967-1999, retiring at the age of 78.
She is a member of the First United Methodist Church where she has taught three generations of 7th graders in Sunday school.
