Multiple injuries reported in four-car collision

Multiple people were transported to area hospitals following a four-vehicle wreck Monday morning on the stretch of Lampkin Street between South Montgomery Street and Russell Street.

The Starkville Police Department says three vehicles involved in the collision were occupied.

The first vehicle was occupied by one adult who was transported, treated, then released from OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.

The second vehicle was occupied by an adult and a juvenile.

SPD said the adult was initially transported to OCH Regional Medical Center, then was transported out of the area for further treatment. The status of the victim transported to another area hospital is not known at this time.

The juvenile passenger was treated and released.

The third vehicle was occupied by an adult who was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center, treated, then released.

SPD says the events leading up to this incident are under active investigation.

The road was initially closed as an active scene, but has since been reopened to traffic following the wreck.
