Ovie Lee Walden Sims

COLUMBUS –– The funeral for Ovie Lee Walden Sims will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Millport, Ala. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sims, 78 of Columbus, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Regency Hospital in Jackson.
Mrs. Sims was born May 27, 1932 in Hamilton, Monroe County to the late Leon G. and Audie Eads Walden. She was a resident of Columbus for the past 38 years having moved from Arlington, Va. 
Mrs. Sims retired in 1993 after 20 years of service as an operator with South Central Bell Telephone. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Shukhota Tom-a-ha of Columbus. 
Mrs. Sims enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, sewing and cooking. 
She was a member of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Aberdeen. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hurston Sims.
Mrs. Sims is survived by her son, Jimmy Andrew Sims of Starkville; sisters, Shirley Ann Wilson of Tiptonville, Tenn. and Doris Morris of Troy, Tenn.; brothers, Leon Belton Walden of Rollingfork, Leon Gene Walden of Hornbeak, Tenn., James Walden of Paducah, Ky.; grandchildren, Christina Dian Sims and Kimberly Lynn Sims; great-grandchildren, Gregory Andrew Sims, Wesley Sims, Madison Sims and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be brothers and family members. Honorary Pallbearers will be the D.A.R. Chapter and members of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
