The Greater Starkville Development Partnership’s Starkville Main Street Association has created a new summer concert series aimed to provide free music for residents and visitors to the Starkville community.

The first of its kind, Downtown at Sundown will take place 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. May 17 at Fire Station Park, featuring a familiar local group, HanaLena Band and friends.

The concert series will occur every third Thursday of each month and spans from May through August. The locations and music genres will change around different parts of Starkville’s downtown district for each concert.

“The Partnership is so excited to create this unique musical event for Starkville and show off our vibrant local talent,” Special Events and Projects Coordinator Paige Watson said.

The June 21 concert will be held on Main Street, and the July 19 show will be in the Cotton District. The series ends on Aug. 16 outside at Rick’s Café.

Each event is free and all ages are invited to attend. Food and drink vendors will be set up at each concert, and blankets and chairs are encouraged. No coolers will be allowed.
