SA's 8th graders shut out Washington

GREENVILLE – The Starkville Academy junior high program left Washington School Thursday night winning one out of three games.
SA's 8th grade team pitched a shutout as it defeated Washington 14-0 behind a pair of touchdowns by Drew Harrell, while the 7th grade Junior Volunteers dropped a 6-0 decision and the 9th grade team fell 34-21.
In the 9th grade game, SA scored in the first quarter on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jake Goodwin to Michael Miller. Miller also scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter and Harrell added another touchdown to his night's work, a 57-yard run, in the fourth quarter.
Harrell had 11 carries for 92 yards in the 9th grade game, while Goodwin completed 5 of 9 pass attempts for 72 yards. John McReynolds caught four of those passes for 41 yards.
Defensively, Jonathan Burton and Miller were singled out for their play.
