Starkville Academy loses road decision

September 11, 2010

MCCOMB – The Starkville Academy Volunteers fell behind 18-0 to Parklane Academy and it was a hole too far to climb out of as they dropped a 38-20 decision on the road.
The Volunteers (0-4) broke scoring ice in the second quarter on a 12-yard run by quarterback Kyle Henson, the first of two scores for the game. Starkville Academy trailed 18-7 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Matt Ward, who led the Vols with 108 yards on four carries, had a 24-yard run for a touchdown to close the gap to 26-14.
Henson, who had 78 yards rushing on 14 carries, scored his other touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 58-yard run and SA shaved the margin to 32-20 before Parklane scored the final touchdown.
The Vols return home next week to play Jackson Academy.
