Vickers wins title, Jackets perform well at state meet

BILOXI – Laken Vickers won a state championship and numerous others notched top finishes as the Starkville High swim team competed in the state meet on Saturday at the Biloxi Nanatorium.
Vickers' time of 1:09.59 was good enough to earn the crown in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Other top-five finishers for Starkville on Saturday included Adina Harri in the 200-meter freestyle, Andy Bond in both the 200-meter and 100-meter freestyle, and Cheng Ye in the 100-meter breaststroke.
The girls 400-meter freestyle relay team of Vickers, Harri, Walker Mattox, and Mark Anne Hobart also earned a top-five placing, coming in fourth.
