With 14 offers from nine Southeastern Conference schools already under his belt, Starkville High School linebacker Willie Gay could afford to let off the gas pedal a little bit on his game as coaches have seen enough of his ability.
The electric defender doesn’t have any plans of doing that anytime soon, however.
From the middle part of last season into his final spring for the Yellowjackets, Gay is living up to the potential of being one of the top 10 linebackers in the country. He’s coming off a big spring in which he felt he and his teammates got better on the field.
“I got better each and every week and we got better as a team,” Gay said. “We’re going to continue to get better in the summer and we’re really looking good right now.”
For more on Gay, see the story by Starkville Daily News high school writer Robbie Faulk in Wednesday's edition.
