BRANDON—Mr. David K. Boyd Sr., 80, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, after a long courageous fight with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20 in the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. the same day at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
David Kemp Boyd was born on July 30, 1931 in Dothan, Ala. to the late Hansel Weed and Ruby Lee Barton Boyd. He was a graduate of Starkville High School and attended Mississippi State University.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later served in the National Guard. He was a small business owner, retiring from Micro Electronics.
He was an avid sports fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Lemmons Boyd of Pearl; two children, Deborah Boyd Staten and husband James of Pearl, and David K. Boyd, Jr. and wife Julia Mann Boyd of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two sisters, Patsy Johnson of Orlando, Fla., and Judy Shows of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Chrissy McCoy, Robby Staten, Katie Stafford, Haley Boyd, Cody Staten, and Austin Boyd; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, H. W. Boyd, Jr.
