WAYNESVILLE, N.C.— Mr. Doug L. McCrory, age 65, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, N.C.

Private family services will be held.
Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Newton, Doug grew up in Macon and lived in Hattiesburg for 20 years before moving to Starkville. He most recently made his home in Waynesville, N.C.

He was the son of Rosemond Smith “Mac” McCrory and Mary Giles McCrory. Doug was a 1968 graduate of East Mississippi Community College and earned his degree in business administration from Delta State University in 1970. He retired from Sunburst Bank as a Senior Vice President. Doug will be remembered for his larger than life personality. He always looked at life with a “glass half full” mentality and had a wonderful sense of humor. The love of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dodie West McCrory; daughter, Mary Clair McCrory Ford and her husband Chris of West Point; step children, Margaret Watkins of Ghent, W. Va., and West Watkins and his wife Melanie of Louisville; sister, Beverly Smitherman and her husband Emmett of Starkville; brother Mike McCrory and his wife Peggy of Brandon; two grandchildren, Heath and Kyle Ford; step-grandchildren Laura Leigh and Karley Grayce Watkins; and several nieces and nephews.
