Mrs. Evalyn Elizabeth Sherman, 94, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Carrington Nursing Center in Starkville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Brother Alan Dees and Brother Frankie Tomlinson officiating.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sherman was born August 16, 1917 to the late Thomas Alan and Nancy Evaline Swearingen of Weirton, W. Va.
From 1945 to 1972, Mrs. Sherman was a buyer and merchandiser in the retail clothing business.
She was well traveled and very familiar with the clothing markets of New York, N.Y., Chicago, Ill., Pittsburgh, Pa. and Cincinnati, Ohio, before marrying Mr. Ned Sherman in 1972 and moving to the community of Oktoc. 

She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church located in Crawford.

She is survived by one sister, Helen D. Markle of Weirton, W. Va., and several nieces and nephews; five step-children, Carol Sue Russell and husband LeRoy of Logansport, Ind., James Hyland Sherman and wife Milly of Logansport, Ind., Gale N. Sherman and wife Ruth Anne of Starkville, Linda Kay Grauel and husband William of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Pamela Tomlinson and husband Frankie of Sturgis; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned O. Sherman.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
