Mr. Max Jones, 81, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his residence in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at McClelland Cemetery in Sturgis.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones was a self employed paint contractor for M & J Painting and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.  He also loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ercel Mae Jones of Sturgis; daughters, Denise  Coleman (Johnny) of Sturgis and Diane Fulton (Keith) of Long Beach; son, Danny Woods (Wanda Joe) of Maben; sister, Tommie Rish of Hyannis Port, Mass.; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jackson Jones Jr. and Myrtis Roberson.

Pallbearers are: Mackenzie Woods, Cameron Woods, Brandon Fortenberry, Whit McGraw, Tom Craig and Orville Craig "Jr."
