Supervisors will have their first glimpse of county property values for the incoming budget year Monday during their 9 a.m. meeting at the county courthouse

Tax Assessor Allen Morgan will present an appraisal on the county tax rolls that morning, a report he said will show slightly improved numbers from last year. County Administrator Don Posey said last fiscal year’s assessment was valued at over $330.4 million, a number which included various property assessments, license plate sales and public utilities.

Morgan said he was not prepared to provide a ballpark assessment to the media Friday.

“We’ve added some new growth and improvement … some new apartments,” Morgan said.

The board will also open bids for soil-cement materials and pile driving estimates which the county could use when needed as its four-year road plan continues. Soil-cement mix is used when laying a base for road improvements, County Road Manager Victor Collins said, while pile driving is used when repairing bridges’ support systems.

“The county usually gets contract quotes on these services so we can use them when we need to,” Posey said. “We usually take bids every year on a per-mile basis (for soil-cement materials) so that when we get ready to pave, we don’t have to bid every road individually.”

Collins said his monthly road report will include updates on Wade Road. In the county’s four-year road plan, officials planned to pave 2.4 miles of the road this year. Wade road projects were left over from the county’s previous road plan due to funding and weather issues.

In March, Collins he is confident his department can accomplish the new plan.
