Man charged with manslaughter after county woman's death

A Starkville man is in custody and charged with one count of manslaughter and two counts of domestic violence.
Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department officials say Richard Nurse, 39, of 909 Old West Point Road has been arrested in connection with an incident which occurred July 4.
OCSD Lt. Brett Watson said deputies responded to a family disturbance at 180 Glenn Lane in the Sunset community and found Aleatha Edmonds, 34, a resident at that address, in "physical distress." Emergency medical technicians from OCH Regional Medical Center transported Edmonds to the emergency room, where she was later pronounced dead.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt has confirmed that Edmonds' body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
Watson said the call was dispatched at 6:54 p.m. Nurse remains in Oktibbeha County Jail. Bond has not been set. Nurse is expected to be arraigned later today in Oktibbeha County Justice Court.
