Mr. Kinard was born Nov. 11, 1927 in Starkville.
Herb graduated from University of Florida in 1956 with a degree in business. He loved his University of Florida Gators and the Mississippi State Bulldogs and was an avid sports enthusiast and player.  He was an active duty member of the United States Air Force and served two tours of duty in the Korean War as a B-29 pilot.

He transferred from the Air Force to the United States Coast Guard Reserves where he retired as a Lt. Commander in 1971.  While stationed at Lackland Air Force base in 1949, Herb met the love of his life, Evelyn Kinard, an Air Force nurse. They married and eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas to raise and educate their family.

Herb worked at Merrill Lynch as a successful stockbroker for many years retiring to his beloved “Monte Seco” in St. Hedwig, Texas in 1993.  He was a prominent member of the First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio and was a devout Christian who followed in the footsteps of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Herb was a good, decent man, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who instilled courage, honesty, justice, faith and friendship into all he met. He will be greatly missed by us all.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Kinard; brother, Vern; son Gary and his wife, Nancy; daughters, Roxanne Kruczek and her husband, Michael, and Rhonda Bruce; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
