VARDAMAN â€“ The East Webster Wolverines scored four touchdowns on the ground and added a field goal to beat Vardaman 30-14 Friday night.
Deangelo Liggins scored from 28-yards out in the first quarter to make it 7-0. Tyler Crosby converted the point after touchdown.
Marques Reives scored from 8 yards out to make it 14-0 in the first quarter. Crosby, again, was good on the extra point.
Liggins found the end zone again on the ground in the third quarter. This time he punched it in from 7 yards out.
John Wofford Williams scooped up a fumble and returned it 22-yards for a touchdown.
Crosby connected on a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Wolverines a 30-0 lead. The Rams managed 14 points when subs were evident in the game.
East Webster is back in action next Friday night when they travel to Okolona for a 7;30 p.m. kickoff.
Ackerman 12, Noxapater 0
NOXAPATER â€“ Ackerman knew it was going to be a tough challenge to beat the reigning Class A State Champions.
The 2A Indians played sound defense and won.
The game was scoreless until the fourth quarter when senior quarterback Dakota Brasher found sophomore Jamarcus Bradley from 15 yards out to make it 6-0.
The Indians attempt at two was unsuccessful.
Brasher again found Bradley in the fourth quarter, this time from 30 yards out to seal the win.
Ackerman is back at next Friday night when the host Winona at 7:30 p.m.
Eupora 20, French Camp 10
FRENCH CAMP â€“ Derek Jones scored three touchdowns and the Eupora Eagles opened the 2012 season with a victory over French Camp.
Jones took the opening kickoff 95-yards to put Eupora up 7-0. Justin Lewis converted on the point after touchdown.
The Panthers recovered a fumble for a touchdown and kicked a field goal in the second quarter to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.
Trey Pittman found Jones for 44-yard passing touchdown in the third quarter to make it 13-10.
Jones caught a 15-yard strike from Pittman to end the scoring.
The Eagles are back at it next Friday night when they play host to Noxapater at 7:30 p.m.
East Oktibbeha vs. Leake County, ppd.
Friday's scheduled game between the East Oktibbeha Titans and Leake County was postponed due to lighting issues in Carthage.
The two teams play today with a scheduled kickoff set for 3 p.m.
