BREAKING: Person of interest in custody after shooting in Sturgis

Oktibbeha County authorities have a person of interest in custody after a shooting late Tuesday night on Pierce Road in Sturgis.
Chief Deputy Chadd Garnett said personnel responded to a call at approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday regarding a female who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Garnett said the victim was transported via ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora and later airlifted to NMMC in Tupelo. Her condition is not yet known.
Garnett said the person of interest turned himself in by calling the sheriff's department. It is not known whether or not there is any other person linked to the incident who is still at large, he said.
There are no official charges against the person of interest at this time. Officials have not identified the person of interest nor the victim.
