In a recent stump speech, President Obama declared, “You know I mean what I say. You know I’ll do what I say I’ll do.” Not only has President Obama not done what he said he would do, but he’s oftentimes done the opposite of what he said he would do. Voters need to hold him accountable for what he’s done, not what he’s said he’s going to do. He’s had four years to do what he said he would do and he hasn’t kept his political promises.
America’s expanding $16.2 trillion debt is arguably the biggest threat to our security, and we’re passing this overwhelming burden to our children and grandchildren. In March 2006, then-Sen. Obama said, “Leadership means that the buck stops here ... I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.” In July 2011 President Obama said, “It is not acceptable for us not to raise the debt ceiling and to allow the U.S. government to default.”
In 2011 when Congress and the White House stalemated over budget cuts, Obama’s Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Jack Lew, proposed sequestration, a 50-cent word meaning signing into law drastic cuts in entitlement programs and Defense neither Congress nor the White House would support. In the third presidential debate President Obama said, “First of all, the sequester is not something that I’ve proposed. It is something that Congress has proposed.” Not only did Obama propose it, he signed it into law!
In June 2008 then-Sen. Obama running for president said, “I will never question the patriotism of others in this campaign.” Less than one month later Obama said, “The way Bush has done it over the last eight years is ... (he) added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back ... That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.” Ironically, Obama has added nearly $6 trillion of debt in fewer than four years.
On October 26, in an interview regarding the murder of four Americans in Benghazi, President Obama said, “I can tell you, as I’ve said over the last couple of months since this happened, the minute I found out what was happening, I gave three very clear directives. No. 1, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to. No. 2, we’re going to investigate exactly what happened so that it doesn’t happen again. No. 3, find out who did this so we can bring them to justice.”
President Obama learned about the attack within 20-minutes of the beginning of the attack that lasted nearly seven hours. “Personnel” pleaded for military support three times as Washington watched the attack unfold real-time. No military support was sent, and orders from Washington to requests for help were to “stand down.” Two former Navy SEALs fought valiantly to rescue consulate personnel and to defend the CIA safe house about a mile away from the consulate. They died in a mortar attack while fighting off Islamic terrorists.
For weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attack in Benghazi, the Obama administration blamed a YouTube video for stirring “spontaneous” demonstrations and riots in Benghazi that turned into multiple attacks over seven hours. Communication from Benghazi during the attack and testimony before a congressional committee refute this lame story.
Voters need to hold President Obama accountable for what he’s done, not what he’s said he’s going to do. He’s had four years to do what he said he would do and he hasn’t kept his promises.
