BATON ROUGE, La. – Tyler Russell is just adding to what has already been a career year for a Mississippi State quarterback.

In Saturday's 37-17 loss to LSU, the junior signal called found Chad Bumphis for 14-yard passing score early in the third quarter to give him 17 touchdowns this season.

The 17 touchdowns breaks the MSU season career record.

“I put so much time into watching film this past week," Russell said. "I knew what they were going to do before it even happened, so it was just go out there and take control and make plays. We were able to do that at times.”

Russell had 295 passing yards and 26 completions to set career highs for himself.

Bulldogs break
all-time season
passing TD mark

The Bulldogs had two passing scores, one from Russell and the other from redshirt freshman Dak Prescott to give them 20 this season.

That broke the single-season school record.

The signal callers also took over fifth place for completions in a single season with 195.

Bulldogs score early
for fourth time

Mississippi State scored on its first drive of the game when Prescott found Marcus Green for a 9-yard passing score.

That was the fourth time the Bulldogs had scored on their first drive and the first since a 45-3 victory over Middle Tennessee State on Oct. 20.

Russell found Chris Smith for a 4-yard passing touchdown.

Mullen yet
to be blanked

Dan Mullen has yet to be shut out in his 48 games as the head coach at MSU. That is third-longest stretch without being shut out in school history.
