Mrs. Geneva Wyman Grimes, 99, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at OCH Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.Â
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Memorial Gardens Park Cemetery.
Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Born Oct. 25, 1913, in Lowes, Graves County, Ky., she was the second of five children born to Cora Acinath Norris and Edwin Rufus Wyman.
Geneva Wyman held a B.S. in Education from Murray State Teacher's College and taught in elementary schools in Missouri and in Sedalla, Ky. where she later taught high school English.Â
She came to Mississippi State College in 1943 to serve as secretary to the Dean of the Graduate School, a position she held until her retirement in 1965. Mrs. Grimes was a member of the University Women's Club and the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Ruth Sunday school class.
In 1951, Geneva married Mississippi State University mathematics professor Alton C. Grimes who preceded her in death in June of 2001.Â
Survivors include niece, Jane Wyman Conner of Germantown, Tenn.; nephew, James Thomas Wyman of Benton, Ky.; and several great-nieces and nephews.
