Two Starkville aldermen will be in attendance later this week at an annual conference in Boston, Mass. designed to bring local leaders together from across the country for networking and community building seminars.

Ward 4 Alderman Richard Corey and Ward 5 Alderman Jeremiah Dumas will represent the city at the National League of Cities Congress of Cities and Exposition Nov. 28-Dec. 1.

According to the conference’s website, the program focuses on three overarching strategies for cities: promoting strong local vendors as well.”

Gregory said organizers reconfigured the bazaar’s layout in 2011.
“We feel like it really enhanced the shopping experience by adding a center aisle, and our sales increased,” she said. “We feel like this year we are offering a higher quality mix of products, so we are expecting a great turnout and increase in sales once again.”

Gregory said the Starkville Sportsplex provided an ideal location for the community wide event.

“There are many advantages to this location in that we have ample parking and the ability for us to host the event on the same week every year,” she said. “With plenty of parking, we are hopeful the hours are accessible for shoppers during the day.”

Gregory said the GSDP is looking forward to another great bazaar and Starkville tradition.

“It’s a great opportunity to get started on holiday shopping,” she said. “There is something for everyone on your list.”
The Starkville Holiday Bazaar begins Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. with its ticketed preview party. Open shopping runs Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
