OXFORD – The 109th Egg Bowl did not disappoint.

It also sported the longest run in series history.

After Ole Miss took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter, Mississippi State sophomore wide receiver Jameon Lewis took the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a score.

"I just did what coach (told) me to do," Lewis said. "The blocking was set up, so I just ran. I didn't have too much to do. They were blocking real good for me."

It was the longest play in Egg Bowl history.

The kickoff return was also the fifth 100-yard play in the 113-year history of MSU football. Three have been kickoff returns and two have been interceptions.

It was also the fourth 100-yard play in the Southeastern Conference in 2012.

Lewis's kickoff return touchdown was the first for the Bulldogs since Oct. 2, 2010 when when Leon Berry ran one back for 97 yards against Alcorn State.

It is the first in league play since Kevin Prentiss' 91-yard kickoff return for a score against South Carolina on Sept. 26, 1998.
