LOUISVILLE – Blair Schaefer poured in 44 points, mainly by hitting 25-of-26 free throws, to lead the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets to a 67-64 victory over the Louisville Lady Wildcats Tuesday night.
After Starkville jumped out to an 11-10 lead after the first quarter, Louisville out-scored the visitors 24-19 in the second quarter to take a 34-30 advantage at halftime.
The Lady Jackets won the third quarter 18-11 to gain control of the game and even their record to 2-2 this season.
"I was wondering how we would respond coming out of the Thanksgiving break," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said. "We started out sluggish, but picked it up and we're real happy to be 2-2."
Following Schaefer in the scoring column for the Lady Jackets was Imane Montgomery with 14 points. Schaefer and Montgomery each had five steals.
Starkville travels to West Point on Friday.

LOUISVILLE – The Jackets also improved to 2-2 this season with the road victory.
Starkville took a 34-26 lead at halftime and were able to turn up the pressure on Louisville in the second half.
Zeb Rice was the leading scorer for the Jackets with 12 points and Richard Evans chipped in 10 points.
