Drew Pellum could get the benefit of one more block from Cole Phelps this afternoon.
The duo from Starkville Academy made the South All-Star team and participate in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools All-Star Game in Clinton. Kickoff from Robinson-Hale Stadium on the campus of Mississippi College is set for 4 p.m.
"We're just excited for both seniors to have this opportunity," Starkville Academy football coach Jeff Terrill said. "It's an experience they will remember all of their lives. It's certainly a reward for two fine seniors."
As the quarterback for the Vols last season, Pellum completed 56-of-112 pass attempts for an even 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. He rushed for 510 yards and eight more scores.
"Drew certainly led our offense for two years, running the option, and Cole Phelps was a three-year starter at right tackle," Terrill said. "This is a deserving honor for both young men."
Starkville Academy finished with a 5-7 record and made the Class AAA-Division II playoffs of the second-straight season.
