Mr. Ralph Greenwood Hewlett, 95, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Oxford with Rev. Charles Lipe officiating.
Graveside services will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Clear Creek Baptist Church prior to service.
Waller Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Colt, Ark., Mr. Hewlett was a self-employed general contractor and a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as Chief Warrant Officer during World War II. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church and was a past member of the original Starkville Airport Board. He was a Shriner and Mason and was known to be an avid sportsman, cattleman, gardener and aviator.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Hewlett (Diane) of Starkville and David Hewlett (Sharon) of Starkville; brother, Rev. James E. Hewlett of Rochester, Ny.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hewlett was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hewlett.
