Mrs. Myrtle Hunter Fitzgerald, 100, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.Â
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville with Rev. Clifton Curtis officiating.
Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was originally from Macon, but spent her later life in Meridian and finally in Starkville to be near her family. At the time of her retirement, she worked in the Extension Service at Mississippi State University.Â
Mrs. Fitzgerald was actively involved in her Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Starkville for many years. She had several hobbies over the years but caring for roses was her favorite.Â
She had been a resident of The Carrington for several years.
Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by her daughter, Agatha Rawson Pilgrim of Kingwood, Texas; son, William E. Fitzgerald of Lafayette, La.; grandchildren, Susan (John) Ankenbrandt and Janet (Robby) Ware of Kingwood, Texas, Billy (Dorothy) Fitzgerald and David Fitzgerald of Lafayette, La; great-grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Ankenbrandt and Cody, Joe, David and Daniel Fitzgerald; and five great-great-grandchildren.Â
Mrs. Fitzgerald is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Fitzgerald Sr.; parents, Phelean and Josephine Hunter; grandson, James Fitzgerald; sons-in-law, Glen Rawson and Robert Pilgrim; and three brothers.Â
