Mississippi State is losing a wide receiver.

The Starkville Daily News confirmed on Wednesday that wide receiver Keith Mixon is in the NCAA transfer portal and intends to leave the Bulldogs.

Mixon had 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown for MSU in 2018. The Birmingham, Alabama, native did most of his damage in one game as he caught four passes for 80 yards and a score against Louisiana in the season’s third contest. Mixon also served as a punt returner for State this past season, returning 11 punts for a total of 72 yards (6.5 yards per return).

Mixon was limited by injury in 2018. He didn’t play in games against Texas A&M and Alabama, and he also didn’t see action in the season-closing Outback Bowl against Iowa.

Mixon’s junior season was a significant drop off from his first two years at MSU. In his freshman season in 2016, Mixon exploded onto the scene and caught 19 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He followed that up by catching 18 passes for 275 yards and a score in 2017.

However, Mixon found himself playing a lesser role in 2018, in part due to injury.

Now, he’ll look to make a bigger impact elsewhere during his senior season.

According to a report from AL.com, Mixon could be returning to his hometown to finish out his career as UAB is one of the potential landing spots for Mixon.
