Lady Jackets have tough time at Canton with loss

January 19, 2013

CANTON – The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets fell behind their host early and couldn't recover in losing a 61-35 decision to Canton Friday night.

Starkville, which fell to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in Class 5A, Region 2, was on the wrong side of a 14-6 score after the first quarter. The Lady Jackets trailed 29-12 at halftime.

"We came out flat and pretty much played that way all the way through," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said.
Imane Montgomery led the Lady Jackets with 19 points, while Blair Schaefer added 12 points.

The SHS teams host West Point tonight with junior varsity action beginning at 5 p.m.
