Starkville Christian wins tourney title

LOUISVILLE â€“ The Starkville Christian School Cougars have played tournaments during the five-year history of the school and never came away as champions.
That is until Saturday night.
The Cougars defeated Tupelo Christian 48-44 in the championship game of the Grace Christian Invitational for the title.
Caleb Jordan, who had 18 points and seven rebounds, scored the winning points for SCS with less than one minute left to play in the game.
Tupelo Christian took a 13-11 lead after the first quarter and led all of the way until the Cougars made their late charge.
Chris Riddle had two steals in the final 2 minutes, one that led to a layup, that was key in the SCS comeback.
Jordan was chosen as the tournament Most Valuable Player for his performance, while Jesse Little was recognized as the Defensive Player for the tournament. Little had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars in the title game.

LOUISVILLE â€“ Starkville Christian School reached the title game by handling Bethlehem earlier in the day.
Russell Davis had a double-double for the Cougars with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Riddle added 12 points.
SCS, which improved its record to 13-3, hosts the Meridian Flyers on Tuesday night.
