A house fire claimed the life of an elderly Starkville woman today and sent one other to OCH Regional Medical Center.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt confirmed 86-year-old Mary Elizabeth Foster of 303 Everglade Avenue died of smoke inhalation in her residence this afternoon. No foul play is suspected, Hunt said. Her body was sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
Neither the name nor the condition of the other person in the house has been released.
Starkville Fire Chief Rodger Mann said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
