A former Mississippi State University student is in custody after allegedly threatening staff at a local apartment complex Thursday.
Oktibbeha County deputies arrested 28-year-old Seyedmohsen Hosseini Thursday after responding to a complaint of threats at Campus Trails Apartments and charged him with one count of extortion. Hosseini, of 1000 Campus Trails Apartments, Apt. 346, was taken into custody by investigators at his residence without incident. As of Friday, no bond was set for Hosseini.
Commander Brett Watson said deputies responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday after an alleged verbal altercation inside the office of the apartment complex. No weapons were involved in the incident. Watson said he does not expect any further charges.
Calls to Campus Trails Apartments were referred to American Campus Communities media specialist Gina Cowart, who did not return phone calls as of press time.
In an unrelated incident, Sudduth Elementary School was placed on lockdown at approximately 2:10 p.m. Friday after “serious concern” regarding an adult, according to Starkville School District Superintendent Lewis Holloway.
The lockdown was lifted 30 minutes later.
“Working with law enforcement officers, we determined Sudduth students and employees were safe and secure and the lockdown was lifted,” Holloway said. “SSD will always take every precaution in the interest of safety.”
