On a cold and snowy Saturday, Starkville High School’s bats got hot as it defeated Ethel 13-2.
The Yellowjackets 13 runs came off of nine hits, which were highlighted by Jalen Campbell, Tanner Clanton and A.J. Brown, who each got two hits in the ballgame.
Scoring took place early in the game for SHS beginning with two runs in the first and one in the second inning.
The Jackets tacked on six more runs in the third inning before ending scoring with four runners crossing the plate in the fourth inning.
Following completion of the game with Ethel, SHS took the field once more for a nightcap contest with Kosciusko.
The Jackets were not as successful in this outing as they dropped a 19-8 decision. With the split, the SHS record stands at 4-2. The Jackets defeated Louisville 9-1 on the r pad Friday night.
Next up for Starkville will be a road trip Tuesday to face rival West Point, followed by a home game against the Houston Hilltoppers on Saturday.
