Starkville High School golf coach Sam Bryant knew his team was going to have "to be ready to play" at the Class 5A, Region 2, District 6 meet on Monday in order to shoot the score necessary to make the State tournament.
The mission was accomplished.
The Yellowjackets shot a 363 as a team, which was good enough to finish second in the region tournament and make state. Starkville hosted the three-team region meet at the Mississippi State golf course.
