Services for Thelma â€śGrannyâ€ť Williams, 90, will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Adaton Baptist Church.Â Viewing will be from 1:00-2:30 p.m.Â The memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m.Â Rev. Tom Daniel and Rev. Hal Selby will officiate.Â Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.Â Mrs. Williams died Monday, April 15, 2013 in her home in Starkville.
During her life, â€śGrannyâ€ť has been a loving daughter, wife, mother to four, grandmother to eight, great grandmother to 31 and in January of 2013 became a great great grandmother.Â More than these, Mrs. Williams has been â€śGrannyâ€ť to several Starkville High School baseball and basketball teams.Â â€śGrannyâ€ť created a super cookie recipe just for the ball teams that she cooked and carried meals for.Â Thelma was manager of the Starkville Junior High Cafeteria for 13 years.Â Her homemade yeast rolls and cinnamon rolls touched the lives and stomachs of many pupils, teachers, principles and friends.Â Her coconut cakes have traveled across state lines to bless many.Â Thelma served with the Pioneers for â€śBell Southâ€ť for many years.
Thelma is survived by her son, Joe Williams of Starkville; daughters, Dorothy â€śDotâ€ť Williams Livingston (Layne) of Starkville and Diann Williams Dale (Johnny) of Columbus; and her son, Roy L. Williams (Suzanne) of Starkville.Â She leaves behind grandchildren, Tina Livingston Burney (Jerry), with 12 great grandchildren and one great grandchild in Warrenton, Missouri; Lesley Livingston (Dana), with two greatÂ granddaughters in Cleveland, TN; Amber Livingston Cheathem (Mark), with three great grandchildren in Lebanon, TN; Renada Dale Hollis (Brian), with five great grandchildren in Columbus, MS; John Dale, Jr. (Miranda), with five great grandchildren in Columbus, MS; and Renee Dale Perkerson (Brad), with two great grandchildren in Columbus, MS; Jason Williams, with two great grandchildren in Starkville, MS; Jeff Williams (Laura) of Starkville, MS.Â She also leaves behind numbers of nieces and nephews.Â She will be greatly missed.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Emma Golden of Eupora, her five brothers, and her husband, A. Ross Williams of Starkville.
