May 28, 2013

The news that Mississippi State University was chosen to host an NCAA regional baseball tournament gave more than just baseball fans something to cheer about. It’s a move that could prove very beneficial to the local economy.

Sid Salter, director of MSU relations, said the university estimates at least a $2 million impact on MSU and Starkville as a direct result from the tournament. Salter said that number could go as high as $3 million depending on weather and “how the tournament plays out.”
