DNA clears Vail in cold murder case

June 5, 2013

Starkville Police Department said on Tuesday the DNA from William Vail does not match the DNA profile of the perpetrator of a double homicide from Sept. 3, 1990.

The case involved the murder of Betty Jones, 65, and Katherine Crigler, 81, who were reportedly murdered in Crigler’s home on Highway 82 while Jones was watching her. SPD identified several suspects over the course of its investigation, but none could be identified as the perpetrator.
